NBA players doubling as rappers has been a staple for over a decade. Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Chris Webber and Stephen Jackson have all ventured to the music game with varying levels of success. But current NBA players Iman Shumpert and Damian Lillard have fans clamoring over who might be the best rapper in the association right now. Victor Oladipo carries the crown of the NBA’s top R&B artist but who is the best emcee?
Damian Lillard recently dropped his second album ‘CONFIRMED’ before the 2017-18 season began and it’s come back with strong reviews following the success of his debut album ‘The Letter O’. Iman Shumpert, on the other hand, has not been dropping any albums, he just pops up whenever he wants with some bars. And the latest Iman Shumpert appearance did not disappoint.
As the Cleveland Cavaliers visited New York to take on the young, surprising New York Knicks, Shumpert decided to make a stop at the premiere New York hip-hop radio station, Hot 97. Shumpert dropped into the studio to spit bars over the Kanye West and Consequence classic ‘Grammy Family’, complete with the Funk Flex hype before and after.
