Since his early days with the New York Knicks, Iman Shumpert used to be considered one of the brighter young stars in the NBA, having the ability to play both sides of the ball. Since his career has gone on, Shumpert hasn’t lived up to expectations and his value is now as low as it’s ever been after his third season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
With training camp opening in just over a month, trade rumors surrounding Shumpert have gained steam as ESPN reported that the guard wanted out of Cleveland. However, according to The Vertical’s Shams Charania, a trade was never requested by Shump but the Cavs remain active in shopping their reserve off-guard:
Sources: Cleveland guard Iman Shumpert has made no trade request, but Cavaliers have actively shopped him since start of free agency.

When his mind is in the right place and health isn’t an issue, Iman Shumpert can still make an impact on any team’s bench unit. Though there are mixed reports about whether or not the 27-year-old actually requested a trade, Shumpert let it be known what he thought of the report himself on his Twitter account:
.@mcten since you speaking on me, you can find my number somehow. Get it and call me. I'll be waitin on it. I'm done wit social.

Straight from the source, it seems that no trade request was made on Shumpert’s behalf but that doesn’t solidify him being on the Cavs roster to start next season. Expect Cleveland to stay active on the trade market to finish off what was an active offseason for the franchise.
