As one of the premier artists in the world of music, Drake has become a tastemaker. Over the years, he’s co-signed a number of artists, including Bryson Tiller, Migos and Fetty Wap. Not to mention, he took Kendrick Lamar on tour and signed PARTYNEXTDOOR and dvsn. Lately, Drake has dived into different realms of the entertainment business and hasn’t been as quick to put his stamp on young artists. However, he always seems to make exceptions for artists that he truly believes in. This summer, New York’s own Ice Spice met the criteria. Shortly after Drake hopped on Instagram and offered words of encouragement for the young artist, she strived to prove him right.
The summer may be coming to an end, but Ice Spice has snuck in one more anthem before the warm weather transitions into the fall. Shot in the Empire State, Ice Spice’s “Munch” is 110% all-out energy from start to finish. Whether it’s Ice Spice dancing in the park with her friends or her crew posted in front of Paya Deli in the Bronx, the young artist’s charisma and delivery shine through as she delivers the song’s addictive hook time after time.
“You thought I was feelin’ you?/That n*gga a munch/N*gga a eater, he ate it for lunch/B*tch, I’m a baddie, I get what I want,” she raps.
With the support of Drake’s Sound 42 and Apple Music’s Ebro Darden, Ice Spice is a name that will be mentioned a bit more in the near future. Check out the New York native’s “Munch” video below.
