The 2015 season for the San Fransisco 49ers was not great, to put it nicely, it was horrible. Coming off an 8-8 season the Niners continued their fall from success by posting a 5-11 record and taking last place in the NFC West. One of the bright spots from their bad season was nose tackle Ian Williams and the team is rewarding him for his efforts.
Ian Williams was one of the best 3-4 nose tackles in football last year and the Niners are inking the former undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame for five more years.

Williams played more snaps than the average nose tackle last year, nearing 700 downs played and it payed off. He finished with a career-high 16 starts, 45 tackles and one sack on the season. According to Pro Football Focus, Williams was one of the best run defenders in the NFL last year, behind Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh and Damon Harrison.
