Ian Mahinmi spent the last season as the starting center for the Indiana Pacers playing alongside Indy’s center of the future, Myles Turner. Ian might have seen the writing on the wall and elected to do what is best for him.
Mahinmi moves on to the Washington Wizards and he will sign a similar deal to the one that Timofey Mozgov did with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Ian Mahinmi broke the news himself.

Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post has more specifics on his deal.

Mahinmi joining the Wizards creates an interesting dynamic with their big man rotation. Markieff Morris is slated to be the starting four but the center position is murky. Mahinimi joins a team already with Marcin Gortat and Nene under contract. Could this mean one of those bigs is expendable for the right price?
It would be hard for the team to sell someone on the thought of acquiring one of the two big, slow guys in Gortat or Nene but crazier things have happened.
