The Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans and Houston Rockets work out a three team trade, first reported by USA Today’s Sam Amick.
Amick reports the following details:
Wizards get: $8.5 million trade exception, Melvin Ely’s unguaranteed contract
Rockets get: Trevor Ariza, Alonzo Gee, New Orleans’ 2015 protected first-round pick
Pelicans get: Omer Asik, Omri Casspi, $1.5 million cash from Houston
Overall, the trade looks like it works out evenly on all sides. Pelicans get another big man that can relieve some pressure off Anthony Davis inside and a solid shooter in Omri Casspi.
Rockets get their man in Trevor Ariza who is the center piece of the deal and Alonzo Gee who had some bright spots in Cleveland.
The biggest thing might be the Wizards acquiring the trade exception. They already acquired Paul Pierce late last night and now they add some more future cap space, possibly to hunt for Kevin Durant in 2016.
