Its official the longest tenured Houston Texan, Andre Johnson, has officially been released by the team. For the past few years we have heard rumors that Johnson has been on the way out in Houston but he always seemed to stay put. Last week Johnson was told by the Texans he would not be starting, then the team informed him that he had permission to pursue a trade, and now the team has released Johnson.
Some teams that he is likely to sign with are the Seahawks, Broncos, and the Patriots. You can expect the Texans all time leading in receiver to sign on with a team that has a chance to win a championship this year considering that Johnson isn’t getting any younger. These teams must look extremely attractive to Johnson since they all have extremely talented QBs and Johnson has played with some underwhelming talent at that position. I wouldn’t be surprised if Johnson ended up in Foxboro next season given the Patriots history of signing aging veterans that have been dumped by their teams.
