The Houston Rockets have the best record in the league, but even a team as elite and efficient as Houston could benefit from having more shooting. The Rockets announced on Thursday the signing of swingman Gerald Green to a one-year, non-guaranteed deal.

The Rockets have until January 7 to guarantee the agreement. If Green is not fully signed, he’ll be waived. Houston will still retain the option to keep Green around by way of 10-day contracts.
The 31-year old Green has bounced around the league recently with stints in Miami, Phoenix, and Boston. The 2007 NBA All-Star Dunk contest winner was last released by the Milwaukee Bucks following training camp.
The high-flying guard has a steady shot from distance – a career 35 percent three-point shooter. His game could potentially translate well to the Houston attack that thrives on the three ball and points in the paint.
As a Houston native Green, via Mark Berman’s Twitter, is ecstatic to possibly have a chance to play in front of his hometown.
“I thought I was dreaming when I woke up today. I really did, thought I was dreaming. It’s an unbelievable feeling to finally get to play back at home. I’m excited.”
Green last played 47 games with the Celtics during the 2016-2017 season.
