What’s weird with College Basketball and the NBA is how teams couldn’t care less that you’re National player of the year. You can have a great season and lead your team to the National Championship like Frank Kaminsky did. NBA teams will still put Kaminsky as a borderline top 10 player! I find it interesting, simple explanation is, he doesn’t have the raw talent that the players drafted above him have.
That and Kaminsky will get destroyed in the post. There’s that. Hornets coach Steve Clifford knew this before he drafted him and in a recent interview with the Charlotte Observer, he said simply that the no.1 job for Frank the Tank is become strong. Like a tank.
Just strength. And obviously him adjusting to the NBA game. But he’s a quick learner and a good worker. He’ll pick things up quickly. That applies to both ends of the floor. He’s so good off the dribble that he would beat guys but be pushed off (his lane to the rim) a little bit. So a lot of times, where in college he got to the basket, he was instead taking 8-to-10 footers. As he gets stronger, he’ll be at the basket again.
Frank will have a very hard Rookie season down low, he will have to take a lot of lumps, but I’m sure he’ll prevail when he gets some muscle in.
