The Charlotte Hornets have a very busy offseason ahead. They have eight free agents that they can either get back or lose. By the start of next season the Charlotte Hornets could potentially look completely different.
But general manager Rich Cho would rather keep his job so don’t expect the Hornets to be dramatically different.
Along with the several free agents Charlotte have, they also have a 1st round pick to consider, Rich Cho is considering every option for that one pick.
“We’re looking at a lot of different options: moving up, moving back, moving out of the draft altogether,” Cho said of what might happen Thursday night.
The Hornets pick 22nd overall in the first round and don’t have a second-round pick.
Now that’s only one pick, it is clear that free agency is much more important for the Hornets, especially since they need to add some talent in order to progress as a franchise. But before they gain players, they need to recover what they already have. No.1 priority, Nicolas Batum.
“We hope to meet with him as soon as free agency starts,” Cho said. “Our goal is to get something done with him.”
The Hornets clearly had something good last season, they took the Miami Heat to 7 games and could’ve easily moved onto the next round. As long as they keep the positives and add to those positives they should retain their status as a Playoff team and maybe, just maybe, they’ll make it past the 1st round.
