This offseason when the Clippers and Hornets face off in the preseason, the court they will be playing on will not familiar to either of them. In fact, they won’t even be playing the games on US soil, and the games will instead be taking place in China.
Following from The Associated Press.
It’s the first time NBA games will be played in Shenzhen. Games are set for Oct. 11 at the Shenzhen Universiade Center and Oct. 14 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena as part of the NBA Global Games 2015.
The games are going to give the people of China, especially many of those in Shenzhen, to see their first NBA game live in person. Many of them have spent their lives following the NBA on television, live streams, and social media, but will now have the opportunity to see how the game is played in person.
The marketing geniuses of Michael Jordan and Adam Silver have obviously planned this out to try to expand the market in which they are able to sell merchandise for the Hornets, and the rest of the NBA. This marketing strategy will be successful, and hopefully many basketball fans in China will be able to experience the game of basketball from a whole new perspective.
