President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, were forced to quarantine after an integral member of their staff, Hope Hicks, tested positive for the coronavirus. Shortly thereafter, the couple tested positive for the virus.
“Hope Hicks, who has been working so hard without even taking a small break, has just tested positive for Covid 19,” the President tweeted Thursday night.
“Terrible! The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process!”
After Hicks tested positive, the couple was immediately tested. Using Abbott Rapid Tests, the two were notified late Thursday night that they had contracted COVID-19. Trump immediately took to Twitter to share an update regarding his health.
“Tonight, the First Lady and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER,” he tweeted just before midnight on Thursday.
It is unclear how long he and Melania Trump will quarantine. If he is forced to quarantine for the recommended two week period, he would miss the second presidential debate in Miami, Florida on October 15, 2020.
