The man behind the Showdown, Johnny, known as Swoosh on Twitter held the very first Flag Football Showdown this past weekend. Aside from purely being about fun, Swoosh held a food drive to donate to City Harvest for the underprivileged and homeless. Salute to Swoosh for trying to make a difference these days, keep up the dope events, homie. Looking forward to the next Showdown.
So Hoops Showdown held its very first Flag Football Showdown on November 8th in Bronx Park on 204th and Webster avenue. It was a 4 team 1-day tournament which consisted of 12 players per team and for the first time we had females suit up to play. There were 8 females in total and each team had 2. @ShortyLyte who suited up for Team WorldFamous helped win the championship and took home the MVP honors with her dazzling spin moves. The four teams consisted of social powerhouses #APT78, #BrunchBounce, #ITYB and #WorldFamous. The main focus of the event was to collect non perishable foods to donate to City Harvest to help feed the homeless or even underprivileged families this Thanksgiving. Through IG/Twitter, participants and spectators we were able to get some folks to come out and donate a little under 100 pounds of food.
