On Saturday, June 28, 2025, Holly Holm will return to the ring for the first time since 2013. The boxing and mixed martial arts champion from New Mexico will challenge unbeaten lightweight contender Yolanda Vega in a 10-round bout.
Holm is a 43-year-old three-division champion who secured Fighter of the Year honors from Ring Magazine in 2005 and 2006. Shortly after turning 31, Holm left the sport of boxing temporarily to pursue her career as a mixed martial artist full-time. Less than three years after defeating Mary McGee to retain her welterweight crown in boxing, she upset then-unbeaten Ronda Rousey to capture the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship.
After winning the title, Holm would lose seven of her next 13 fights in the octagon and transition back into boxing. In May of 2025, she signed a new promotional deal with Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian.
“I’m excited to partner with Most Valuable Promotions and return to the boxing ring,” Holm told ESPN. “This new chapter is going to be an exciting journey, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
On June 28, 2025, John “Scrappy” Ramirez will join Holm at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on the preliminary undercard of the Jake Paul-Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. Pay-Per-View event. Ramirez will look to gain a world title shot with a win against an opponent that has not yet been determined.
The preliminary undercard builds up to a cruiserweight co-feature. In the chief support bout, unified cruiserweight world champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez will fight Yuniel Dorticos. Meanwhile, in the main event, Jake Paul will step into the ring with former middleweight champion Julio César Chavez Jr.
