Brook Lopez is now a bench player. And the fact that Lionel Hollins doesn’t like him anymore pretty much says it all.
I’m half joking about how Hollins doesn’t like Lopez. He just thinks he’s lazy according to the New York Daily News.
“Of course (it’s frustrating),” coach Lionel Hollins said. “I told him he was being lazy.”
If this wasn’t the backbreaking play in Brooklyn’s lackluster 89-81 home loss to the Celtics, it certainly was the most inexcusable. It also encapsulated a night in which the Nets were outhustled by a roster built to tank.
“It hurts to say (we were outhustled),” Mason Plumlee said. “But that’s what happened.”
“I definitely disappointed myself,” Lopez said. “The effort was poor out there, and I let my teammates down.”
The Celtics (12-21) aren’t supposed to win games against the team with the highest payroll in the NBA, especially after trading Rajon Rondo. But they still hammered the home team, holding the Nets to 40% shooting and 19 points in the fourth quarter.
Brook Lopez is now unequivocally done with the Nets. He may have said that he let his teammates down but his output lately has been tragic and it’s clear he can’t be bothered to be on a non contending team. For his sake and for Brooklyn’s sake. He has got to be traded. It’s getting a tad sad watching the slow downfall that Brook Lopez is having right now.
