Over the past two years, H.E.R has been one of the fastest rising acts in the world of R&B. In late 2016, H.E.R released her debut EP, H.E.R Volume I. The six-track EP was welcomed with co-signs from Pusha T, Alicia Keys, and Rihanna. Less than a year later, the New York native came back with H.E.R Volume II, which was also well received. Over the past year, the singer whose real name is Gabi Wilson has had her music featured on Issa Rae’s show Insecure, collaborated with D.R.A.M and Daniel Caesar and been nominated for Soul Train award. Today, the up and coming singer received a co-sign from none other than Chris Brown.
This week, DJ Envy released a remixed version of H.E.R’s “Focus” with Chris Brown on the track. H.E.R remains the same on her record, while Chris Brown harmonizes nicely alongside the original vocals. Chris Brown adds, “What is this a joke?/You know I get this money/So I guess you can’t complain/You don’t have to be alone/If you bring your ass home/You been running through my mind all day.” The track also comes complete with a number of DJ Envy drops to give you the complete mid-2000’s vibe.
