Helen Mirren is in talks to star in the dramatic-biopic Trumbo.
The actress is set to join Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston for the film, which is based on the life of blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo.
According to Variety, Mirren will play Trumbo’s wife Cleo if she comes on board.
Trumbo was a hugely successful screenwriter in the 1950s until he was sent to prison for refusing to answer the questions of Congress’s infamous House Committee on Un-American Activities.
He was blacklisted upon his release, but went on to win two Academy Awards under pseudonyms. He was eventually able to have the blacklist abolished.
The film will be directed by Jay Roach from John McNamara’s script, with Michael London producing under his Groundswell Productions name.
