The Orlando Magic when they made the NBA Finals in 2009 was one of the most surprising teams we’ve seen. Lead by a young Dwight Howard, it was more of a random group than the 04 Pistons.
One key player in that random group was Hedo Turkoglu. Prior to that NBA Finals season he won the Most Improved Player Award. The Turkish forward could get buckets anywhere, he was a great shooter when he was at his peak. But then the Magic eventually went their separate ways, leaving Hedo to become a journeyman. In 2013 he was suspended for the use of Methenalone, a PED. Moving to now, he’s decided to call it a career and according to Sportnado, will work with the Turkish Basketball Federation.
“I am very thankful and grateful for the opportunity to live out my dream and play in the NBA,” he said in a statement. “I will always remember my teammates, coaches, staff members and all of the fans who made my career so wonderful for myself and my family.”
It was a fairly good 15 seasons that didn’t end on the best of notes but at least he’s already helping the greater good of basketball and in his own country no less.
