Five years into his career, Joe Joyce is on the verge of earning his first world title shot. In late 2020, he shocked a few fans by upsetting Daniel Dubois en route to a 10th round knockout. A few months later, he stopped Carlos Takam in the sixth round of a 12-round bout. This year, he was set up to fight Joseph Parker in a heavyweight showdown. Unfortunately, a few roadblocks have emerged and delayed that bout. Instead, Joyce has decided to take a fight on July 2, 2022 at OVO Arena. With that said, his opponent has not been determined.
Joe Joyce will be a part of a stacked card at the OVO Arena on July 2, 2022. Fellow light heavyweight contender Callum Johnson will share the ring with Igor Mikhalkin. Meanwhile, Sam Noakes will look to extend his knockout streak to 10 with a win against Spain’s Marc Vidal. Not to mention, middleweight Nathan Heaney will make his debut in London. Rounding out the event, Jason Cunningham will battle South African superstar Zolani Tete.
If Joyce emerges with a victory on July 2, 2022, a bout with Parker could be revisited in the fall or winter.
? Announced: Joe Joyce will return in a heavyweight clash on July 2nd at Wembley Arena in London, opponent TBC. Show is headlined by Jason Cunningham vs Zolani Tete with Callum Johnson vs Igor Mikhalkin also on card.
