A situation that once was a happy marriage between two compromising parties is now possibly turning into an ugly divorce. The Miami Heat were informed last week of the news that Dwyane Wade is at odds with the team and his current contract for next season, which has him making about $16 million.
The issue is that Wade wants to get paid and get his max money, which he may or may not deserve based off past sacrifices and agreements he made with the team. He took less money to bring LeBron James into Miami and also to keep fellow Miami Heat fan favorite Udonis Haslem with the team.
Now as Wade approaches the twilight of his career, he wants to make that money back, especially with the new television deal slated to start in two season.
The issue is, the Miami Heat don’t want to give him that. His value has diminished and apparently so much so that Wade was offered less than he’s already making.
Bleacher Report’s Ethan J. Skolnick says that Wade was offered less than $10 million per year by the Miami Heat.
@jnewman3345 it was under 10M per, I believe

Wade’s diminishing value is apparent as he continues to play fewer games as his career years of service in the NBA is now in the double digits. He’s 33 and has missed 20, 28, 13 and 17 games the last four years respectively but on the flipside when he is on the court, he produces like an All-Star.
The Heat have a lot of leverage but so does the Wade camp. He has teams interested, according to reports the Los Angeles Lakers are one of them, and he does produce when called upon.
The thing is the Heat are looking towards the future. A future that could hinge on what Wade wants to do next season and beyond to bring in more talent for Wade to continue to succeed as his career comes to a close, particularly bringing in one potential star in Kevin Durant.
