Heather Locklear has been hospitalized following a harrowing incident at her home yesterday. On Sunday, the actress’s mother reportedly called the police after Locklear threatened to kill herself. According to a report from TMZ, the incident began when Locklear’s parents went over to her California home when she had sounded distressed. The incident escalated when Locklear allegedly hit her father and choked her mother, which prompted her to call 911.
According to TMZ‘s report, the caller’s daughter was trying to “hurt herself and looking for a gun to shoot herself.” Fortunately, the caller did mention that her daughter “does not have access to any weapons.” Authorities from the Ventura County Fire and Sheriff’s Departments responded to the call and have taken control of the situation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Locklear is currently undergoing psychiatric testing.
Unfortunately, this incident is not out of the ordinary for Locklear. Locklear has been battling addiction, depression and displaying acts of violence for nearly a decade. Most recently, authorities reportedly responded to calls that she had hit her boyfriend. Those charges were eventually dropped, but she still faced four counts of misdemeanor battery on a police officer and resisting arrest. Locklear did plead not guilty, but the incident resulted in her not being able to own a firearm, which in this case probably saved a life.
