The Miami Heat have been trying to trade Mario Chalmers for a long time. He feels like he does not have much of a role on the team anymore, and they said that they will trade him for nothing.
A recent report from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports that the Heat want to take a look at their younger point guards before they decide whether or not to trade Chalmers away.
With Tyler Johnson also cleared to return from his broken jaw sustained in Summer League (he has been working out in Delray Beach), the Heat (are) back to full strength a month before training camp.
The Heat, incidentally, want to take a long look at Johnson and Josh Richardson in training camp before deciding whether to make a renewed attempt to trade Chalmers.
The Heat have a lot of young players to back up their starting point guard, Goran Dragic. These young players have not proven that they will be good in the NBA though, so the Heat want to take a closer look at them before trading away Chalmers, who has won championships as the starting point guard in Miami.
Tyler Johson, Corey Hawkins, and Josh Richardson could all receive minutes running the point this season, but none of them are proven in the NBA yet. It is a smart move by the Heat to take a look at these young guys before getting rid of the already proven Mario Chalmers.
