Orlando Magic power forward Serge Ibaka is reportedly on the trading block, and you can add the surging Miami Heat to the list of teams to register interest in the big man, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald:
Meanwhile, Riley is expected to explore moves before the Feb. 23 trade deadline.
One name we’ve been told is on Miami’s radar: Orlando forward Serge Ibaka, an impending free agent for whom the Magic reportedly is willing to consider offers.
…
It’s unclear whether the Heat has assets that the Magic wants, or how aggressively Miami will pursue this. But Ibaka intrigues the Heat.
Riley’s interest in Ibaka, whose current value is probably lower than it should be due to Orlando’s abundance of big men, is understandable. While Ibaka may not be quite the ferocious rim protector that he was a few seasons ago, the idea of him protecting the paint alongside Hassan Whiteside is certainly enticing.
Plus, Ibaka has always been underrated as an offensive player; while he isn’t the most skilled post player, he’s a very good midrange shooter whose range extends out beyond the arc.
Other teams reportedly interested in Ibaka include the Houston Rockets and Toronto Raptors.
