Erik Spoelstra has been a staple with the Miami Heat organization since his famed days as a video coordinator almost 20 years ago. Coach Spo worked his way up the ranks and since 2008, he’s been the Miami Heat head coach.
Spoelstra’s been a consistent coach in a league full of coaching changes. He’s been the second longest tenured coach behind Gregg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs. Spo is a two-time NBA champion as coach of the Heat and he’s improved tremendously throughout his tenure with the Heat.
Now, he’s going to get rewarded for his efforts.

The Miami Heat are progressing on completion of a multiyear contract extension for two-time championship coach Erik Spoelstra, league sources told The Vertical.
Owner Micky Arison and president Pat Riley have been eager to secure Spoelstra beyond the final year of his contract in 2016-17, assuring that one of the league’s elite coaches never reaches the free-agent market.
Ethan Skolnick of the Miami Herald reports the deal is for an extra two years.
