Chris Bosh’s health has been a major storyline over the past two seasons. The Miami Heat power forward has now had two consecutive seasons cut short as a result of blood clots.
Bosh recently claimed he’s ready to join the team on the court next year. But that clearance was not always a probability. In fact, the original diagnosis by the Heat was that Bosh’s playing career was at the finish line, according to the power forward in his new Uninterrupted video series “Rebuilt”:
Chris Bosh tells @uninterrupted that he had more than one clot in February, and that Heat then advised his career was likely over.

This whole situation has been a strange one with ongoing disputes between the franchise and their star player. Obviously, Bosh’s health is the main concern here. But there’s also a chance that Miami just wants out of the max contract they gave him two years ago.
Bosh didn't expect to still not be cleared by Heat, less than week before camp, after finding respected doctors who said he could safely play.

From Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald:
“I felt… I was written off, put it to the side and matter-of-factly. If a doctor tells me this is how it is and I don’t buy that, then I think I have the right to disagree with you. I know inside me I have a lot of talent, a lot of ability. I know I have it. It’s not a matter of if I’m going to play again, it’s when. So I took the bull by the horn.”
For now, it appears as though Chris Bosh will resume his playing career with the Heat. However, the disputes that have happened and the original diagnosis may lead to a more messy situation. Bosh could certainly agree to a buy-out and find a new home elsewhere. Or he could stay in Miami where he’s had tremendous success despite saying he felt the Heat doctors have written him off.
Bosh has not been cleared to play, yet despite him saying that other doctors have told him he can. Training camp and the preseason are starting soon. We should know more about the situation as those dates approach.
