HBO Max has teamed up with Aaron Sorkin to put together a reunion of The West Wing cast ahead of November’s election.
The cast will deliver a theatrical performance of an episode called “Hartsfield’s Landing” from season three of the NBC drama. During the episode, President Barlet plays chess against Sam and Toby as world events unfold around them. China engages in warlike tactics along the Taiwan Strait while Toby stresses himself out over a New Hampshire primary election that seemingly always predicts the upcoming presidential election.
Original cast members like Allison Janney, Janel Moloney, Richard Schiff, Martin Sheen and Dulé Hill will all participate in the reunion. Sorkin’s partner Thomas Schlamme will also return for the reunion.
“Tommy and I are incredibly excited to be getting The West Wing cast back together for this staged reading and to support When We All Vote in their efforts to get all of us involved in this election,” Sorkin said.
“With A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote, we are excited to revisit this legendary series and offer our passionate fans something that is substantial, meaningful and unforgettable, while also promoting an important message for our time,” HBO Max Sarah Aubrey said.
A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote will debut this fall on HBO Max.
