This season marks the first year in which players can sign two-way contracts – contracts that enable the player to go back and forth between the NBA and the G League. Two-way players who prove themselves worthy can negotiate complete contracts, as we saw with standout rookie Mike James on the Phoenix Suns. The next two-way player to be signed for the rest of the season is Atlanta Hawks power forward Tyler Cavanaugh, reports Michael Cunningham of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
Source says Hawks don't plan to use open roster spot now but eventually plan to sign "two-way" player Tyler Cavanaugh for rest of season.

Cavanaugh, 23, signed his two-way contract in November. Since then, he’s played 15 games with the Hawks, averaging 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game while shooting 49 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from 3-point range.
Cavanaugh spent two seasons at Wake Forest before transferring to George Washington for his remaining two years of eligibility. In his senior season, Cavanaugh averaged 18.3 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while shooting over 40 percent from deep. In each of his seasons at George Washington, Cavanaugh was named to the second team All-Atlantic 10. In 2016, George Washington won the NIT, and Cavanaugh was named MVP of the tournament.
