The Atlanta Hawks are continuing their fire sale after trading Kyle Korver to the Cavaliers. As that trade becomes official, the Hawks are looking at other possible trades including rumored ones about Paul Millsap.
Millsap and Korver aren’t the only Hawks in the rumor mill, however. According to ESPN’s Zach Lowe, the Hawks are searching for second round picks in exchange for wing scorer Tim Hardaway, Jr.
Hardaway is in his second season in Atlanta after being traded from the New York Knicks. He has often struggled to find consistent playing time bus has had a bit of a resurgence this season.
Hardaway has played 22 minutes per game for the Hawks this year, even starting in five contests. He’s averaged 11.4 points per game on 44 percent shooting (34 percent from three). He does not provide much in the form of defense or playmaking but he is capable of putting the ball in the basket.
The asking price is an interesting one for the Hawks. Hardaway may not be a game changer but it will be difficult to find equal value for him in the second round of the draft.
On the other hand, Tim Hardaway will be a restricted free agent this summer. If the Hawks are not sold on his abilities and do not want to pay him like a core member of their rebuild, they should get whatever assets they can find for him.
