
Going into game 6, the Atlanta Hawks needed just one more win over the Brooklyn Nets to advance to the second round. The first quarter of the game was all about the Hawks, and the Nets could not stop Atlanta’s high-powered offense. The Hawks scored 36 points in the quarter, outscoring Brooklyn 36-23. For some reason though, the Hawks shot ice cold in the 2nd quarter, and they only scored 15 points in the second period, and the Nets scored 22 to make the game close again. At the half, the Hawks were up 51-45.
When the Hawks came out of the locker room after halftime, they were ready to play. They came out on fire as they scored 41 points in the 3rd quarter, outscoring the Nets 41-21. By the end of the 3rd, the game was pretty much over. The Nets scored 21 points in the 4th quarter, and the Hawks scored 19. The Hawks won the game 111-87, taking the series 4-2. The win for the Hawks knocks the Nets out of the playoffs, and it moves the Hawks into the second round.
Paul Millsap scored 25 points tonight to lead his team to victory, and Paul also had 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Kyle Korver and DeMarre Carroll each scored 20 points tonight, and Kyle also made 6 threes on 10 attempts. While Jeff Teague did not score tonight, he passed the ball very well assisting his teammates on 13 passes.
Brook Lopez played well in game 6, scoring 19 points on 7-15 shooting, and he also pulled down 7 rebounds. Deron Williams scored 13 points tonight and grabbed 5 rebounds. The Nets did not have a lot of production offensively tonight due to the Hawks playing great defense.
After a series that has been much more competitive than expected, the Hawks have finally come out on top. The Hawks will play the Washington Wizards in the second round, who swept the Toronto Raptors in round one of the playoffs.
