It just so happened to be a part of a back-to-back, home-at-home contest for the Rockets against the Denver Nuggets. Just like their last game against each other, the Rockets pulled off the victory. On this occasion the Rockets did it in overtime, 115-111.
James Harden scored 41 points, including 8 in the overtime period and also dished out 10 assists on the night. Patrick Beverley had 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and Trevor Ariza had 13 with 8 rebounds on the night. Donatas Montiejunas had 18 points and 6 rebounds while Dwight Howard in his second game back had 24 points with 16 rebounds. All Rockets starters scored in double figures.
Beverley sealed Houston’s seventh win in 8 games by hitting 4 straight free throws in the final 17 seconds of the game. Harden also had a big game at the line, hitting 18 of 21 from the charity stripe.
Arron Afflalo tied the game on a great buzzer-beating 3-pointer to end regulation. Afflalo finished the game with 22 points. Wilson Chandler had 23 points with 6 rebounds and Ty Lawson dished out 16 assists while scoring 12 points. Kenneth Faried had 11 points and 11 rebounds on the night. Danilo Gallinari had 16 points on the night and Darrell Arthur had 12 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists as both he and Gallinari came off the bench for the Nuggets.
The Nuggets have struggled lately dropping 7 of their last 8 games.
