Hampton University basketball coach Edward Joyner jr understands that Kentucky is a better basketball team than his, and most other teams in the country.
His 16 seeded squad will face the number one Wildcats tonight at 9:40 in the second round of the Tournament.
During his press conference, Joyner picked up his cell phone to call Jesus for help, but apparently there was no answer.
It’s awesome to see a coach of a program have some fun like this with the media.
“It’s really just going in with a great mindset,” said senior Quinton Chievous. “Not being intimidated and just playing as hard as we can and knocking down all our shots and just never giving up. When adversity hits us, we can’t get down on ourselves. We just gotta keep playing.”
Hampton, who is 17-17 on the season, beat Manhattan 74-64 on Tuesday in the “First Four” to set up the meeting with Kentucky.
