Boston Celtics first round pick Guerschon Yabusele will play the 2016-2017 season with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association. The guaranteed amount of money is unknown but Yabusele can earn up to $1.5 million with bonus according to Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe.
Yabusele was the 16th pick in the draft which was a stunner to a lot of people. He played in eight summer league games and scored 8 points a game while shooting 48%.
The Celtics roster is very crowded and doesn’t have space for Yabusele. It is better for the 20-year-old to play every night in China instead of sitting on the bench in Boston. The Celtics will retain Yabusele rights while he plays in China.
