Guapdad 4000 may be one of the more overlooked artists in music today. For some time now, the Oakland native has showcased his creativity, humor and writing ability through his music. Along the way, he’s been in the studio with 6LACK, Chance The Rapper and all of Dreamville. Not to mention, his presence on social media is unmatched.
As he continues to rise as an artist, fans continue to learn a bit more about him as a person. Throughout his music, he’ll reference his relationship with his brother or take us to his past as a scammer. This Friday, fans get to look a bit further into the life of Akeem “Guapdad 4000” Hayes.
Before dropping the “How Many?” video, the Bay Area artist dropped a trailer for the short film. In the two-minute teaser, he takes us from the kitchen table to the church. In the midst of all this, he offers a short message for all those watching.
“For me, scamming was all about breaking the system and flexing for how smart you were for figuring it out. I wanted to get on top and I wanted people to realize that I was a genius,” he said.
Backed soulful production from !llmind, Guapdad 400’s newest single is both introspective and relatable. Check out his new short film for “How Many?” directed by Chris Simmons.
