The Milwaukee Bucks have traded guard Sam Merrill and two future second-round picks to the Memphis Grizzlies for guard Grayson Allen. Memphis stacks some draft capital to try and build around Ja Morant while the Bucks land some depth at guard in Allen who is coming off a career year. Allen could be a key rotation player for the defending NBA Champions this upcoming season. The Bucks lost a few names in free agency, but reload with a young talent that is capable of spacing the floor.

Last year with Memphis Allen averaged 10.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 41.8 percent and a three-point percentage of 39.1 percent. He slots in immediately as a shooting option for the Bucks who could use more floor spacing. Sam Merrill played limited games and limited minutes last year for the Bucks. In those games, he averaged 3.0 points, 1.0 rebounds, and 0.7 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 44.4 percent and a three-point percentage of 44.7 percent. An increased role with Memphis could showcase his full potential.

Memphis will continue to try and build a long-term contender around their young star Ja Morant while the Bucks goal is more immediate. The Eastern Conference only got better and if the Bucks want to repeat as NBA Champions they will need to bring the best versions of themselves. Allen could provide a spark off the bench and help the franchise capture another title.
