Memphis Grizzlies front court depth was lacking some true size going into this season. They signed Brandan Wright to be a backup for newly re-signed Marc Gasol and they still have Zach Randolph but beyond that, they have a few unproven young forwards. They needed to secure some legit size.
The Grizz have elected to enlist the services of seven foot NBA journeyman, Ryan Hollins. Hollins was garnering interest from a couple of NBA teams late this summer.

The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed in principle to sign veteran free-agent center Ryan Hollins, a source told Yahoo Sports.
Hollins, 30, is expected to sign a one-year veteran’s minimum contract.
Hollins was originally drafted in 2006 by the Charlotte Bobcats, now turned Hornets, and since then he’s bounced around the league. He’s been a member of the Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers, and last season he was with the Sacramento Kings.
Hollins will most likely fillout the final spot on the Grizzlies roster and without a clear cut favorite to beat him out it looks like Hollins spot on his ninth NBA team in as many seasons appears to be all but a lock. Besides, the Grizzlies aren’t taking too much of a risk on a guy who will be a third center in their rotation.
