
You would think that coming off back to back career best games of over 30 points that a player would be tired and maybe take a drop in scoring. Well luckily for the Memphis Grizzlies, their early MVP candidate Marc Gasol started off slow but turned it on and scored 16 points in the second half, including 12 in the third quarter while the Grizzlies defeated the Los Angeles Lakers, 99-93.
Marc Gasol had 19 points and 11 rebounds in total, Mike Conley added 19 points with 7 assists. Zach Randolph scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for the Grizzlies. Courtney Lee had 10 points with 4 rebounds.
Kobe Bryant, who didn’t take one shot in the first quarter, scored 22 points with 4 rebounds. Kobe shot 10-10 from the charity stripe. Jeremy Lin had 14 points with 5 assists and 4 rebounds while Jordan Hill had 11 points and 7 rebounds. Nick “Swaggy P” Young came off the bench to score 13 points and Ronnie Price contributed off the bench, scoring 11 points for the Lakers.
The Lakers, have lost 7 of 9 and Los Angeles are now 1-7 at Staples Center.
The Grizzles improved to 13-2 and kept pace with Toronto as the 2 teams with the NBA’s best record. Grizzlies have their seventh victory in 8 games.
