
In the first ever matchup between 2 teams with at least 19 wins in their first 24 games, the Golden State Warriors put their franchise record 16 game winning streak on the line when the faced off against the Memphis Grizzlies in the “Grind House” aka the Fed Ex Forum in Memphis. The Grizzlies held strong and defeated the Warriors, 105-98.
Marc Gasol scored 24 points with 7 rebounds to lead the Grizzlies. Mike Conley and Zach Randolph each scored 17 points, and Randolph grabbed 10 rebounds with Conley dishing out 5 assists. Vince Carter added a season-high 16 points and was a huge spark for the Grizzlies in their biggest game of the season and Jon Leuer joined Carter off the bench to score 11. The Grizzlies started off the second quarter by shutting the Warriors out 20-0.
Golden State star Stephen Curry missed back-to-back 3-pointers in the final 10 seconds. He finished with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists but was 9 of 25 from the field including shooting 1-10 from three point range. Klay Thompson led the Warriors with 22 points, Harrison Barnes scored 11 points with 8 rebounds. Draymond Green struggled for Golden State, only scoring 4 points on 2-11 shooting but grabbed 10 rebounds. Marreese Speights scored 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds, Shaun Livingston had 12 points and Andre Iguodala had 9 points with 6 rebounds. All 3 players came off the bench.
The Warriors lost for the first time since Nov. 11 against the Spurs, who are also the last team to beat Memphis. Memphis continues its 5 game winning streak.
