Gregg Popovich is a joke. I get it. He’s a genius coach. He rests people. Wow! Do you want a cookie?
Seriously I can’t stand the guy. He’s a luddite for the NBA. Change?! Oh no! Can’t do that! As we all know. The NBA might be finally extending the season by month. Which I have been saying for a year. I know. I’ve said it before. But. Deal with it.
So with that idea possibly becoming a reality. Guess who doesn’t feel like changing? Poor diddums Gregg Popovich doesn’t want to work for another month. Ah no. Now we can’t do it!
“I think the season is long enough,” Popovich said. “I will not come to work in July. If there’s a game in July, count me out.”
Even a championship game?
“Count me out. Count me out. Life is too short.”
Popovich was joking — we think — but his point remains: The NBA season already stretches over nine full months, from the start of training camp in October until finishing up with the Finals in June.
He probably was joking. I hope so. Because if he was. I would simply say.
RETIRE! Just retire! Life too short? RETIRE! Sayonara! Goodbye! Au Revoir! You are not a player. You do not run up and down the court every play. You sit there and call plays.
