We may have witnessed the end of an era Saturday Night when the San Antonio Spurs lost to the Los Angeles Clippers in Game Seven, eliminating them from the Playoffs.
Two-thirds of the Spurs “Big Three” aren’t getting any younger and are free agents. Manu Ginobili is 37 and Tim Duncan is 39, both with expiring contracts. Head Coach Gregg Popovich isn’t getting younger either and has been around for a while. Most fans are eager to know what the Spurs legends future plans are, but they’re not worrying about that right now.
“(Retirement) could happen, easily. I still don’t know what I want to do, and I don’t want to make big decisions after a disappointment like this,” Manu Ginobili said. “I’ll sit with my family, try to evaluate what happened this year. The Spurs have a decision to make, too. It’s not a topic for right now.”
Tim Duncan took the same approach as Manu, saying right now isn’t the right time for the topic.
“It’s too early to think about that,” Duncan said.
Gregg Popovich told reporters that he think’s that he will be back with the team next year along with Duncan and Ginobili.
“The paycheck’s pretty good,” Popovich joked.
That, I’m sure, it is.
