After another year out of the NBA, and another year trying to rehab his rickety knees, it is pretty obvious that Greg Oden is still not ready to give up that NBA dream. Free agent center Greg Oden worked out for the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday and will also be a part of the Dallas Mavericks‘ free agent camp this coming week to put his skills on display again, according to RealGM’s Shams Charania. He also worked out for the Memphis Grizzlies in the spring.
Greg Oden is on NBA comeback trail, visiting Dallas to work out for the Mavericks this week in mini-camp, league sources tell RealGM.

Oden sat out this past season as he faced multiple charges related to domestic violence. He avoided jail time as part of a plea agreement in February in which he pleaded guilty to a felony battery charge and the three other charges against him were dismissed.
Oden, 27, last played for the Miami Heat in the 2013-2014 season, appearing in only 23 games. The former No. 1 overall pick has had five surgeries on his knees and has played a total of 105 games since being drafted in 2008. To his credit, most people in his shoes would have given up and just lived the rest of their lives comfortably on the million he made off his rookie deal as the former No. 1 pick, but not Oden. It really is unclear whether Oden is in anywhere near game shape or if his body can withstand a full 82-game NBA season, but as long as he’s trying to make a comeback, teams will always take a look at him.
