Delpit, a second-round draft pick for Cleveland out of Louisiana State University, featured heavily in LSU’s secondary that helped propel them to the College Football National Championship. Receiving the 2019 Jim Thorpe Award, Delpit was acknowledged as the top defensive back in college football last season.
The loss of Delpit for the entirety of the season will hinder the defensive options of new head coach Kevin Stefanski’s defensive staff, who will be looking to improve on ousted coach Freddie Kitchens’ record of 6-10 from last season, the worst record in the AFC North.
