After a four season run, Fox has announced that Gotham will air its final season on January 2019. Rumors originally speculated that the DC Comics series wouldn’t come back until March, but it is set to air the first episode of season five on January 3rd 2019. Luckily, the show’s final season will add an extra two episodes for a total of twelve this winter. If everything runs as planned, the series will conclude on March 21st with the show’s one hundredth episode.
The fifth season will pick up from last season’s where multiple villains rose from the underground and one mainstay left the series for good. In addition, we’ll see how the series picks up following the emotional death of Solomon Grundy. Following the end of the season, Drew Powell, who plays Grundy, said that he had trouble filming the end of the season without crying. Not to mention, the series will feel the effects of all the major characters that left town at the end of season four.
Given everything that still has to be answered in season five, the final run will sure to be filled with twists and turn. Watch how it all unfolds this January 3rd on FOX.
