HBO Max has delayed the release of their Gossip Girl reboot until next year. This news comes as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to hit the entertainment hub known as Hollywood and the rest of the country.
Prior to the delay, the show was in pre-production. When the show does return, Eli Brown, Savannah Smith, Whitney Peak, Emily Alyn Lind, Jason Gotay and Zion Moreno will star in the series.
“This time around the leads are nonwhite,” Gossip Girl Executive Produce Joshua Safran said.
“There will also be a lot of queer content on this show. It is very much dealing with the way the world looks now, where wealth and privilege come from, and how you handle that,” Safran added.
HBO Max is set to launch on May 27, 2020 with thousands of hours of exclusive content. Gossip Girl, The Boondocks and a number of other reboots are expected to hit the streaming service in 2021.
