For nearly 25 years, the Gorillaz have captured the imagination fans around the world. Presenting an eclectic style that is all their own, they have laid the foundation for a number of artists, producers and all-around creatives. Along the way, they’ve toured the world, collaborated with everyone from Madonna to Snoop Dogg and attempted to develop a Netflix film. Now, the iconic band will write the next chapter of their legendary story with the release of Cracker Island.
Released on February 24, 2023, Cracker Island serves as the group’s eighth studio album. Per usual, the group brings together a wide range of sounds and artists, including Bad Bunny, Thundercat, Tame Impala, Beck, Bootie Brown, De La Soul, Adeleye Omotayo and Stevie Nicks. The 11-track project has been described as “purely pleasurable” and “richly satisfying.”
“Cracker Island is small where Gorillaz albums have tended to sprawl. Divorced from cartoon alter egos, big concepts and Albarn’s apparently limitless power to persuade big stars to do his bidding, it reveals itself as that most prosaic of things: a fantastic pop album,” Alexis Petridis of The Guardian said.
