Can we unofficially name February as ‘Goran Dragic’ month?
All of February there has been news about Dragic that runs the gamut.
He’s been rumored to be traded just about everywhere, or to any team that needs a point guard.
He gave a list of teams he wanted to go too.
He even ripped the Front Office of his former team.
Now, despite the fact that he is already on a team after being traded by the Phoenix Suns, he’s reportedly interested in another team. Even though the team he’s on, the Miami Heat, wants to resign him.
From Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News.
The Lakers expressed a “ton” of interest in guard Goran Dragic, according to an NBA source familiar with the situation. But the Lakers “just didn’t have assets,” the league source said. Instead, the Phoenix Suns traded Dragic and his brother, Zoran, to the Miami Heat for Danny Granger, Justin Hamilton and two first-round picks. …
A person familiar with Dragic’s thinking said he “loves the opportunity” to join the Lakers and sees them as a “perfect fit” when he becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. But the Heat can sign Dragic a five-year deal worth up to $100 million, while other teams can offer up to a four-year deal worth $80 million.
This is getting exhausting.
While long-term, the Heat might not be a promising destination due to the age and health of both Dwyane Wade and Luol Deng along with the questions about Chris Bosh’s health, the Heat immediately don’t look that promising.
Now joining a Lakers team, with a man in Kobe Bryant who is all but done in his career, which would mean the team would be led by Dragic, might actually be more of a promising option for his personal future.
