Goran Dragic has had a eventful couple of weeks. Getting traded. Getting used to the Heat playbook. Playing his old squad with wounds between the team and player clearly not healed yet. But now that the dust has settled on everything. Goran Dragic is flourishing in South Beach. And from the eye test and what he has been saying recently. It looks like Dragic will be in Miami for some time.
According to the LA Daily News, Dragic wishes to stay in Heat colors.
Dragic also revealed afterward he likes “everything” about the Heat.
“I’m really comfortable. I feel great,” Dragic said. “Miami is a nice city. People are nice. The system is good. I like coach. I have all good words for them.”
“The main thing for me is to find a home here, know the plays and know my teammates,” Dragic told L.A. Newspaper Group. “My wish is to stay here.”
The Heat can sign Dragic a five-year deal worth up to $100 million, while other teams can offer up to a four-year deal worth $80 million.
Now you’re probably wondering why the Los Angeles Daily News is reporting this. Well simply because Dragic is a big target for the Lakers. They’ve been looking at him for some time. And just because he’s in Miami now, does not mean that he’ll stay there.
“They’re a great organization and have a history of winning,” Dragic said about the Lakers (16-44). “Right now they’re not having a good season. But that could change anytime.”
“It can happen,” Dragic said. “But I’m really happy here right now. We’ll see how those things go from here.“
That’s the attitude to have. Stick to the present and whatever happens in the future happens. Personally I’d say go with the Heat.
