Anticipation mounts as the curtains rise on the stage of the Republican debate of the 2024 presidential race, featuring eight candidates who have successfully met the criteria laid out by the Republican National Committee (RNC). The Republican debate is taking place less than five months ahead of the crucial Iowa caucus, scheduled for January 15th.
Which subjects are anticipated to be covered?
Earlier this week, Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum revealed her intention to give candidates “a chance to share with the audience what they would do to make the country better.”
“We really want people to walk away from the debate on Wednesday night feeling like they can have a better sense of all these people and maybe their eyes are open to one or two of them that they want to hear more from. I think that’s honestly, that’s the main goal, is to move this process forward in a way that people feel is edifying and that they are more interested in the morning after on Thursday,” MacCallum said.
“There are two areas that I think all of us realize are kind of divisive within the Republican Party, one would be abortion, which was a bigger issue than Republicans thought it would be in the midterm election,” MacCullum continued.
“I feel like they’ve all had time since then to realize that they need to have a strong perspective and a strong answer on those issues. So that’s clearly one,” MacCullum explained. The other is that there’s a divide in the Republican Party over the future of the U.S. role in Ukraine. I think that something voters, Republicans, Independents are going to be sitting up and listening to their answers on. So those are areas that will be a focus.”
Are any debates being held for Democrats candidates?
The Democratic National Convention (DNC) or any Democratic candidates have not yet revealed plans for scheduling future debates.
What does the schedule look like for the 2024 RNC primary debates?
