Some shooting nights bay be hot, and others cold, but in spite of all of that the Golden State Warriors remain one of the most deadly outside-shooting teams ever.
Just 2:24 into Game 4 on Thursday the Warriors became the best 3-point shooting team in NBA playoff history with a total of 204 3-pointer’s made, following Steph Curry‘s nailed triple. After going 12-of-30 from outside it pushed their playoff total to 215 threes and also pushes their percentage up to 37. Last year’s San Antonio Spurs team hit 203, passing the 2008-09 Orlando Magic for the record at the time.
Now the Warriors have at least two more games to ensure their record stands as untouchable moving forward. But after last night’s Game 4, a smaller lineup and improved play from MVP Stephen Curry (22 points, 8-of-17 shooting, but more important, 4 or 7 from 3-point range) had the Warriors looking championship-worthy for the first time since Game 1.
The Warriors shot a league-best 39.8 percent from long-range during the regular season but managed just a 31.3-percent mark through three games against the Cleveland Cavaliers, a main reason they found themselves in a 2-1 hole.
Curry, entered Thursday’s game 11-of-34 from outside but since he shot 4-of-7 in Game 4, he now has extended his NBA record for individual triples in a postseason to 88.
