Last night, Dwight Howard was a guest commentator for TNT during their broadcast for game 5 of the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio series and he got more of the questions then he expected. He was hammered with questions about free agency, his future with the Rockets, his past and his relationship with James Harden, by Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith, but was able to calmly express his views and his side of the story, showing a mature Dwight Howard.
Former teammate and current Los Angeles Clipper Glen Davis doesn’t really by the act, claiming that Dwight Howard was a fool when they played together back in Orlando from 2011-2012. Davis took to Instagram to make this post.
For those that are wondering who Keyon is, it was the athletic trainer for the 2011-2012 Orlando Magic at the time. I’m sure Dwight Howard has a lot more on his mind then Big Baby Davis’ commentary on his life, but nonetheless, Davis obviously doesn’t buy Dwight Howard’s mature act. I’m going to give the benefit of the doubt to Dwight Howard, because I feel like the way he expresses himself on the court (by smiling or acting like he’s having fun) it brings out his nature ability to play basketball at a high level. Being yourself and knowing what you’re good at in the NBA will take you a long way, and Dwight Howard can and will get back to that form. Will it be with the Houston Rockets? It’s unlikely, because he has one year on his contract and financially it wouldn’t make sense. In addition, it’s not like his situation or relationship with James Harden is going to get any better, so maybe it’s best for Dwight to part his ways. Where will he go? He’s been mentioned in a number of different places, but the teams that will go after him are the Blazers, Rockets, Mavericks, Magic and any team that is in desperate need of a Center and willing to pay top dollar. All we know is he probably won’t be ending up where Glen Davis is playing.
