Netflix has announced that the highly-anticipated Knives Out sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, will be released on December 23. The announcement was quickly followed by the release of several images of the cast. The streaming service’s first-look image prominently features Madelyn Cline, Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe and several of the main cast members sitting around a long, elegant table discussing something that is seemingly important.
“Nothing brings friends together like a killer party,” the photo’s caption reads.
“Glass Onion is fast approaching and just speaking for myself personally, I cannot wait. Behold! First-look images of our glam European beach vacation whodunnit,” director Rian Johnson added.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery has been discussed at length following the release of the original, Knives Out, in 2019. Released in November 2019, the comedic mystery earned more than $300 million at the box office with a cast that included Lakeith Stanfield, Jamie Lee Curtis and Chris Evans.
In light of the first film’s success, Netflix made a play to pull Knives Out from the theater and into the streaming universe. The streaming giant has not only garnered the rights to the sequel, but a third film is also reportedly in the works. The primary cast is expected to change, but Daniel Craig will serve as the lead detective in each mysterious chapter.
